here we go again...

wow!  it's already june 30th.  where has this summer gone?  alex leaves tomorrow to spend july with his dad.  soon it'll be august and back to school time.  i really wish time would move slower (some of the time).  enough of that--i know what you really want to read.

what did i do about the job???

well i accepted the day care job.  i did ask for more money.  at this point they can't give it to me, but once they have more kids enrolled and get the business going, she thinks they will pay me more.  i told her i wanted to accept the job even if they couldn't pay me more.  i wanted the job!

i think it is a good fit for me.  the mother and daughter who own the day care are super nice.  they have good family values and a strong background in education.  they will be supportive and help me when i need it.  they also believe in me, and i really need that right now.  it seems like it is going to be a fun place to work.  educating children is a serious job, but they seem open to things.

today i went and saw the building.  they still have a lot of work to do, but things are coming together.  i got to seem my room, which is a nice size.  the walls will be painted gray, so i'll get to add a bunch of color to the room with children's art work and other things i hang up.  it's a blank canvas.  i get to choose my furniture from what they have.  she even said yesterday i can give them a wish list and they may be able to buy some items i would like to have.  isn't that cool?

i already have a lakeshore learning (it's a store) wish list.  i made it tuesday night after i had already made the decision to take the job.  some of the classroom materials i decided i could make (like signs for centers and a daily schedule).  so i spent yesterday morning making signs for my classroom.

last night i went into borders to look for a book i had seen on amazon.  i was invited to help plan the curriculum, but i don't have any resources.  i found the book at borders, but it was way too expensive (amazon is usually cheaper).  anyway, while i was there i found some bargain items for my new classroom.  i got some books and some lacing cards (for fine motor skills).  it was all becoming to seem real.

after seeing the building today and going through some books i picked up on sale at lakeshore learning this morning,  things are becoming very real.  i'm feeling scared.  i haven't taught children this age in a very long time.  what if i screw up?  you've gotta sing with kids this age.  i've got a terrible singing voice.  what if i can't manage them?  since i struggled with classroom management the last couple of years i really want to go into this with a plan.  i want to succeed.  i don't feel like i can be successful, but i know that's not true.  i can do this!

sorry for skipping around so much in this post.  there is a lot on my mind.  new things are exciting and scary at the same time...
