like how i try to get creative with my title? anyway, here we are again. another week down. when i worked at the store last night my manager and i talked about how it's almost halloween and that means the holiday shopping season will be starting. i can't believe it's been another year. where does the time go? some of the days/weeks seem to drag, but then here we are in the middle of september. it's crazy!
i had a good work week (at the school). one of my bosses is working with me to help me improve a few things in my classroom. she said i'm doing a good job and she is happy with the work i am doing. there is just always room for improvement. i'm the one who thinks i need to improve. i'm still not 100% confident in what i'm doing. anyway, i appreciate the help, and i'm glad she thinks i'm doing a good job.
M must have seen the banned in the blog-o-sphere blog because he brought up that it is ok to write about him. i did mention that i stopped writing about him, and he said he didn't mean for me to totally stop. then he brought it up again. so, i can write about him as long as i don't include every detail of his life. i'm hoping i can walk this line...
speaking of M--things have been doing great. i'm happy. i haven't felt this happy in a while. he is so sweet to me. it's sometimes difficult to believe that i've met someone this wonderful. like it seems too good to be true. but i'm enjoying every moment!
alex turns nine this coming friday. i can't get over the fact that i have a 9 year old. it's crazy. again, where did the time go???
i got a promo code for a free 8x8 photo book from shutterfly. i didn't have anything current that i wanted to do, so i made a book of rodeo memories (2004-2011). it has all of alex's miss moo photos plus a few others. i think it will be a neat keepsake. i'm excited about it.
i'm glad that halloween is near. know what that means? i can decorate my house for halloween! i love halloween and thanksgiving. the fall holidays are the best!

sunday randoms
* worked all weekend (saturday and today) so i didn't have much of a weekend. i'm SO not ready to go back to work tomorrow.
* business at the store was slow this weekend. i hate feeling like i'm wasting my time standing around a store that doesn't have any customers in it. the worst part is that i have to look busy. hard to do when you've already straightened the panties a dozen times.
* it rained last thursday! that was pretty awesome! :)
* speaking of the weather, it's just too hot to be outside. just walking to and from the car when at target yesterday was torture. when will we see cooler temps?
* things at school are still good. i had a couple of rough days last week with one student in particular, but i still only have 5 students, so i can handle it. the behavior management plan is working. overall, things are good.
* adjusting to working full time is harder than i thought it would be. i hate the getting up early and the absence of a nap mid day. i'm glad labor day is coming up. it'll give me extra time to chill.
* worked on a budget with my grandparents yesterday. i'm not good at sticking to a budget, but it does help to sit down and look at all the numbers.

sunday night randoms
i may stop doing mid-week randoms because i will usually be working at the store on wednesday nights. i think i'll switch over to sunday night randoms and sum up my week before beginning a new one. whatcha think?
* i had a $700 sale at the store yesterday! i was having a so-so day. i was stressing over making my goals and having good stats (the goals were super high yesterday). in walks this lady, and without batting an eye, she dropped $700. lucky me! :)
* i am not sure, but i think the AC at the house is getting ready to go out. last night it got really hot in here (over 80 degrees). i went outside and the unit wasn't even on. the fan inside was blowing, but nothing was happening from the unit. it was hard to sleep. i debated waking up alex and going to my parent's house at 11pm. finally i fell asleep and when i woke up it was cold in here. it was a miracle! the AC was working. not sure what happened...
* i really am enjoying my job. it's hard getting up in the morning. i'm worn out by the end of the day. it's hard to keep moving constantly, which is what these kids need. but all that aside, i'm very happy with my decision to take this job. the people i work with are all nice, and the kids keep telling me how much they like school. i'm going to implement a behavior management plan this week to help with the minor problems i am having. the good thing about all this? i'm getting my confidence back! :) i can do this!!!
* M and i went bowling on friday nite. i managed to win a game this time! :) the 3rd game was SO close. he won by 2 points. next time i will dominate! :oP
* speaking of M, he brought me flowers again this week. this time it was a dozen pink roses. i told him he is spoiling me and setting the expectation bar really high. i could get too used to all these flowers... ha ha! it's sweet though, and i love to lay on my couch and look at them. :)
* this week my mom turns 60! we celebrated this afternoon, but i offered to have dinner with her on her actual birthday. she didn't seem too sure about it, so we shall see.

first bad day in a while
i guess i've been on that "new relationship high" or something... today things seemed to come crashing down. not just with M (will get to that in a moment), but with everything.
i've been enjoying my new job. i only have 4 students right now (all boys). they are full of energy, but overall good kids. monday was rocky, but it was the first day oftraining school and things aren't expected to be perfect. tuesday and wednesday were good days. today was not. they didn't want to sit and listen to anything. they were all over the place. i had to threaten that we would "practice listening" instead of going outside (hey, it worked). anyway, it was a rough day.
brings me to point number two. i'm exhausted. i had to work at the store last night. i'm pissed that i have to work two jobs. don't worry--i'm pissed at myself, but pissed just the same.
alex doesn't like the fact that i'm dating M. he said today when i picked him up, "M is driving me crazy!" i asked why. he said that i'm always talking to him/about him. he also said that he would prefer brett (he hasn't even met M). i told him that brett won't even talk to me (i left out that i don't want to talk to him). hopefully he'll get over this. i don't want to feel that i have to stop dating someone because of alex. i would if i needed to, but i don't feel li should be put in that situation (maybe i'm selfish).
then alex started crying when i went to pick him up some spaghetti for dinner. he misses my sister. he is sad. i did my best to comfort him, but i feel like i didn't do a good job. i would just like to take all his pain away. i wish he wasn't dealing with this. poor guy...
then i get to dinner with M (this is the icing on the cake). he tells me that he applied for a job that would take him to australia. wtf? australia? he would be there for 8 weeks and home (texas) for 3 weeks. he asked me my thoughts. i told him it wasn't my place to say anything. he said it was, and he wanted to know what i thought. well by this time, i was ready to burst into tears. i had all that other shit happen and now the guy that i like (the one i'm calling my boyfriend) tells me he may go work on a totally different continent. again, wtf? i told him that he had to do what was best for him. that his happiness in his career is important. he asked if i was mad. i said no. why would i be mad? shocked? ready to pull away? yes. he said he doesn't want it to change things between us. i said long distance relationships suck (remember, 2 of the years i was with brett he was 3 hours away and i hated it. can you imagine a whole other continent?) he said he was exploring his options. i said it's good to have options.
i didn't want to say much after that--about anything. i wanted to cry. not just because of what M told me (he's been my BF less than a week), but because this day was full of hits. i know shit happens. i also know things could be worse. today just sucked and i'm ready for a new tomorrow...

mid-week randoms
* i enjoy watching the family feud. i'm going to miss it once i am working full time again.
* that's right--i'm home watching family feud as i type this. we're still not open. we failed an inspection today. we may open friday, but it's looking more like monday. she's going to keep us posted. i hate this waiting game...
* i am going to go to hobby lobby after a nap. i need to get some things to make alphabet bags (bags that have different things in them that start with that letter). i'm hoping to find some deals!
* i baked a strawberry cake for alex the other night. i've eaten more of it than him. :(
* i've finally finalized my daily schedule and lesson plans for week one. it feels good to be done. now i've gotta think about week two so i can get ahead.
* thanks to everyone on facebook for the information about fogo de chou. i can't wait for my date with M on saturday nite. once again, it's not just about the what we're doing (dinner and sherlock's), but about being with him.
* it feels nice to like someone and have them like you back!
* paternity tests on maury are so trashy! why does maury have to come on after family feud?
* i got my first electric bill from my new electric company. it's only $30, but service just started august 1st. i don't understand why i'm already getting a bill.
* my right knee still hurts. i hurt it some time in june. it's now august. it only hurts if i keep it bent for too long. too stubborn and cheap to get it checked out...

failed!
we (the childcare center where i'll be working) failed one of our inspections today. so, we won't be opening tomorrow after all. now we are hoping for wednesday. today we had our first meeting where they went over policies and procedures with us. we also filled out all our paperwork so we'll get paid. after that we finished setting up our rooms and did a deep cleaning. my room is all ready to go. i just need us to pass inspections so the kids can come.
also, most of my lesson plans are finished. i worked on them last night. i need to figure out what to do in math, but i have just about everything else set. we're having a curriculum meeting in the morning so hopefully i'll be able to finish then.
just playing the waiting game...

sunday randoms
way to think of a creative title there, huh? just sitting here waiting for my sleep meds to kick in and i'm bored. i'm feeling really anxious about starting the new job (officially) this week. it's not even an official start tomorrow, and i feel SO nervous. i basically did nothing all day. i got a little laundry done and did some grocery shopping, but the rest of the day was spent laying on the couch. i think my mind needed to be in a vegetative state. i'm mostly anxious about teaching these kids, but i'm also anxious because we don't even know if we are going to be able to open on tuesday. so since our official start date is still up in the air, i'm feeling extra nervous. remember, i like to know what is going to happen.
next saturday, i have another date (#5) with M. we're going to fogo de chao. has anyone ever been there? i'm not that adventurous with food and just hope i can find something i like there. i looked over the menu online and it seems pretty basic (steaks, salads, mashed potatoes--at least that is what i want to eat). i need to figure out what to wear (i know, here we go again) because we are going to sherlock's after. if you've been to this fogo de chao or know someone who has, please tell me how dressy it is. i don't want to be under-dressed for the restaurant or too dressed up for the bar.
while we're on the topic of clothes--why do i worry so much about what i'm wearing. he obviously likes me. he's come right out and said he likes me. so now it's time to show up in the messy ponytail and sweatpants--NOT! i just want to continue to make a good impression, and since we are trying out this new place, i want to be dressed appropriately.
speaking of M, i'm trying to figure out if i should change my status on facebook to "in a relationship" because it appears that i am in one. now when i say that, it may sound weird. i'm not uncertain about him, just about the whole relationship thing. i am way out of practice and scared to death of being hurt. he just keeps saying and doing things that lead me to believe that this is more than just a few dates. he said we're going to have many dates and many fun times. anyway, i've been dying to change my status for months now. i almost changed it to "it's complicated" just so it would be something other than "single". the reasoning? well it must be some complicated reason that i'm still single... ha ha ha!
i finally got some lesson plans written. i had to redo my whole template because my schedule changed, and i couldn't stand having things out of order (major OCD). i went to go to what used to be kinkos to make copies, but they closed at 6pm. what ever happened to 24 hours? fed ex doesn't know what they are doing...

nerves
it's been a long time that i've written a 4 am post. usually i'm sleeping, but right now i have a lot on my mind. this post is mostly for me to sort some of that stuff out, but you may enjoy reading it too.
the school i am working at officially opens august 8th. that is close! i've done some planning, but i feel like it's not enough. i must plan more! i am going to get in the room on thursday and begin set up. hopefully, i'll see the results of some of my planning then. then i for sure have two days next week to work up there. i hope it's all enough time.
i've made an alphabet, shapes, colors, and a schedule (made of pictures and words). i've got a calendar where we are not only going to track the days of the weeks/month, but we're going to track the weather every day and graph it at the end of the month. that reminds me, i've gotta make example cards (a legend so to speak) for the weather so the kid who is the weather watcher for the day will be able to draw the weather on. speaking of that, i haven't made a job chart yet. still so much to do! i got a really cute chart at really good stuff for counting up to the 100th day. it's insects, which kind of goes along with the theme of the school (in a way). i also got various storage containers from there so i can organize supplies and stuff at centers. speaking of centers, i just had an idea on how to mark the centers for how many people can be there at a time. i've already made little worms for each kid (again going with the theme). i just had to figure out what to do with these worms and how to mark the centers. well i've come up with some dollar containers i saw at target earlier and some foam and craft sticks i can get at hobby lobby. it may not make sense to you right now, but i'll post a picture after i make them. wish target and hobby lobby were 24 hours--i'd jump up and go right now! ;) i bought a "question of the day" pocket chart from lakeshore. it's how i'm going to take attendance everyday. i'll read the question, they will find their name and answer, then we will discuss. i thought it was a cute idea and a little more involved than just pockets for their names.
one of my biggest obstacles right now is my schedule. i have one vision and my bosses another. i'm trying to compromise and make a schedule that will work for both of us. laying here at 4:20 in the morning i have gotten some ideas, so i should probably go to the other room and jot down these ideas, so i don't forget them.
i'm also having a little trouble writing my lesson plans for the first week. i know what i want to do (for the most part), but i don't know how to write it up. i made myself a handy lesson plan sheet (table), but now i'm having trouble plugging stuff in. i think that is because i'm starting off the year with routines/rules and that really only fits into social studies and i need to get it to fit into math and reading too. i know i can do it. i just need to stop being so anal about it and write on the damn paper the books and activities i want to do/use.
looking over this post, there is more completed tasks than there are tasks still to complete. the problem is, the stuff still to be done is major (leave it to me to find a negative). anyway, after writing all this out, i feel much better about things. tomorrow (well actually later today) i'll have more time before going to work at the store to do some more stuff for my classroom.
