no april fool

this is not a joke--it is a serious post.

april 1st is kinda a difficult day for me.  i did the math this morning.  it has been exactly 9 years since wayne moved out of our house and exactly 8 years since my divorce became final.

yep, it all took place on april 1st.

i remember going to court april 1, 2005.  the judge asked if we were sure we wanted to get divorced on april fool's day.  i joked and said something like, "as long as you don't say it's a joke after you say it's final."

well, it wasn't a joke.  it was a divorce.  in case you don't know, even if you're the one that wants the divorce, it's still a difficult thing.  something that, when it started, you thought would last forever has ended.  it's sad.

i've written before that i sometimes question if i did the right thing by wanting a divorce.  this usually happens when my mom brings up my divorce and her opinions of it.  but i do wonder... where would i be today if i had stayed married?  it's the whole what if... game i play with myself.

but everything happens for a reason.  he was brought into my life for a reason.  actually, i believe, two reasons.  he's not a bad guy.  things just changed.  it happens.

i sometimes feel sad to be 36 years old and divorced.  mostly because i have a lot of friends who are happily married and i want that love and companionship in my life.  i also thought that by now, i would be remarried.  it has been 8 years.  here i am--single and not in a relationship.  i feel like i've failed some how.

i came to terms last year the with fact that i probably won't have another baby.  i decided that i have been blessed with a wonderful child.  if i don't ever have another baby, that will be okay.  it took a while to get there, but i've decided that i don't need another baby in my life to be complete.

maybe it's time to come to terms with the fact that i may never marry again.  that i may be eternally single.  i think that if i didn't want it so bad that things would be easier.  it may also happen for me if i stop thinking about it so much.  just because i've said it, doesn't mean i believe it's okay.  that will take time.

for tonight i just want two things:

1. for this day to be over so i can stop thinking about how my marriage failed.
2. for the maroon 5 concert announcement made earlier today not to be a joke.  it would be great to see them twice in one year!

confessions

* i confess that getting my 10th follower made me smile big!

* i confess that i want more followers! PLEASE FOLLOW ME!! (too much?)

* i confess that finding the billy goat tavern in chicago was the highlight of my trip!  when i was a kid, i walked around repeating the SNL skit all the time.  i had no idea until this past weekend that it's a place in chicago.

* i confess that i ordered a cheeseburger, and smiled when the guy taking my order told the cook, "cheezborger"!

* i confess that i went on youtube to find the SNL skit with john belushi so i could post it for all the people too young to remember it not familiar with it, but i wasn't able to find the skit.  :(

* i confess that i had a fantastic time at the maroon 5 concert tuesday night!

* i confess that i tweeted adam levine a marriage proposal.

* i confess that i actually said, "where's my cell phone? i put it down while i was moving like jagger..."

* finally i confess that today digital underground started following me on twitter. it's a long story to how this came about, but i'm really amused by the whole thing.  for those of you too young to know unfamiliar with this rap group, enjoy the following video!

so much to post, so little time...

good afternoon ladies!  i have so much i want to post about, but time is getting away from me.  i spent this past weekend in chicago at a kid's expo.  i haven't had a day off in a while, and it's starting to catch up with me.

a few things...

* tomorrow is the maroon 5 concert!  i am SO very excited to see them again!  now if only adam could meet me and fall totally in love with me...

* what is this blog lovin' stuff?  all the "cool kids" seem to be moving over there, but i am not sure exactly what it is.  i get all my blogs in my blogger feed. am i missing out on something? please clue this out-of-touch old lady in!

* i got a "drunk dial" from a friend (male) last night. this is someone, who under different circumstances, i would be interested in. it's been a while since someone has drunk dialed me.  i was very amused by it.  i really need a life...

i promise i will blog about all sorts of fun stuff soon.  plus, i want to start my link-up party this week!

sunday randoms

i'm going to start off my sunday randoms again.  i may also start doing something related to a blog i read on wednesdays.  i need to look into that one a little more.  anyway, here is my sunday, november 4th, edition of randoms.

* today was a beautiful day.  i was going to sit out back on the patio and write, but the dogs (my parents have FIVE of them) have started to poop on the back patio.  it's gross!

* i have a meeting at the store tonight.  it's to get us ready for holiday.  i can't believe 2012 is almost over.  where did the time go?

* i am going to see maroon 5 in march when they come to houston. i was thinking today, after cheating and looking at a set list from their most recent show, that i need to buy the new album so i know those songs.  it's $14.99 on iTunes.  next paycheck!

* alex is still selling popcorn for scouts for one more week.  if you are interested in supporting his troop, let me know.  it's kind of expensive, but if you're able to do it, cool.  contact me because it's a lot more expensive if you buy online through the website.

* a friend invited me to spend christmas with her family.  that means a lot to me.  even though i'm jewish, i like traditions.  i'm excited about it (even though it is over a month away).

* speaking of christmas, the store where i work is already playing christmas music.  yesterday i heard "walking in a winter wonderland" and was like, "it's 80 degrees out!"  what happened to christmas starting after thanksgiving?

* i had a good date on friday.  that's all i want to say about that... ;)

* i love when we "fall back".  i love my extra hour of sleep!

* i want to repeat what wonderful friends i have.  i am thankful for them everyday.

* i'm not going to get into politics, but make sure you vote on tuesday (if you haven't voted in the early voting).  it's important to exercise your right to vote.

weekly random updates

* M is officially the best boyfriend EVER!  he drove all the way back from louisiana yesterday to go to the maroon 5 show with me when no one else could go.  he's awesome! :)

* it appears that i burnt out at 11,000 words because i have been unable to write since last thursday.  i have tried several times, but nothing is coming to me.  damn!

* i won't be working at the child care center next week because there won't be enough kids there.  i am hopefully going to pick up some hours at the store.  it's kinda weird that i'm not going to go to work for a whole week.

* i have a random question to throw out to my readers--is it really strange to sleep with a watch on?

* the maroon 5 show yesterday was awesome!  they never disappoint!

* M is going to meet my family this thanksgiving.  i'm both excited and nervous about this.  i think they will all really like him.  i'm just afraid that their craziness will scare him off.

* speaking of thanksgiving...  i can't believe it is next week.  where has the time gone?  2011 will be over before i know it.  the only good thing coming from time flying by is the fact that we're getting closer to our cruise!

* luby's is an awesome dinner!

a concert review

last night i went to the maroon 5/train concert.  i feel the need to share the experience with my readers because it was the best concert EVER!  this will not be a typical concert review.  you're gonna read about my experiences and feelings, but i will give some insight into the show.

i had been looking forward to the show for months.  i can't remember when i bought my tickets, but it was a while back.  when yesterday finally came i was so excited.  i felt like a kid who was going to disney world for the first time.  i had a difficult time taking a nap because of the excitement inside.

anyway, we get to the woodlands around 6pm.  it was already crowded.  we parked in the orange lot and made the long walk to the pavilion.  once we were in we staked out a place on the lawn, and i went to look for a drink and a t-shirt.

the t-shirt line was INSANE!  i was down there for a good hour.  i missed most of the first act (matt nathenson).  but i got an awesome shirt that i will treasure always! :)

what i did see of matt nathenson was really good.  he was funny--talking to the audience and making fun of people in the front row.  i knew only one of his songs and he did it as his second to last song (come on get higher).

when he left the stage, the big lights came on and they started to set up for the next act.  it goes dark.  we are expecting train to take the stage.  we are sitting on our blanket.  all of a sudden the curtain goes up and there is a big M on the screen.  wtf?  we were shocked.  it wasn't time for maroon 5.  they were supposed to headline.  sure enough, out comes adam singing moves like jagger.  it took me a minute to register what was happening.  it was craziness!  but i quickly jumped up on my feet (where i stayed for the whole show) and started to sing and dance.  i knew every song but one (called stutter off the new album).  i sang, danced, screamed, and wished i was closer to adam levine.  he's not just sexy on the outside, but i love his voice.  it's distinct.  when you hear a song that he is singing you know right away that it is him.  anyway, they did a great mix of songs from from all 3 albums.  it was definitely the best concert EVER!  (and i've seen a lot of people in concert).

then the lights come back up.  i was so sad to see maroon 5 leave the stage.  cynthia and i talked about leaving half-way through train to just see what they were like.  looking back, i'm not sure why we stayed.  i like some train songs (meet virginia, drops of jupiter, hey soul sister, save me san francisco).  i thought it would be good.  nope.  they did sing all those songs, but they also covered music.  when was the last time the headliner covered music.  we weren't at a bar to watch a cover band.  we were at a concert we paid for.  (btw--maroon 5 didn't do a single cover song).  so we left a little early.  we were still able to hear them and got to hear the songs we liked (which they did at the end).  i just couldn't believe they were coving u2 and aerosmith!

train aside, it was the best concert EVER (i know i said that, but i just want you to know how great it was).  cynthia and i talked about seeing maroon 5 when they tour again.  i'm all about that.  maroon 5 is my favorite band and i think i love them even more after last night!
