i'm in a "wtf?" type of mood...
there is this girl at work--we'll call her "annoying lady" or AL for short. i can't stand working with AL because she is always butting into my sales. she has tried to steal my customers before. and if she isn't trying to steal them, i feel like she's trying to show the customer that she knows more--like under minding me. today a lady came in and had never shopped with us before. she had heard we were a good place for bras and panties (we are!), and so i knew i would have a sale if i could get her into our product.
so i ask the customer what she looks for in a bra and i take her to show her some. i ask her what her size is. i always start off this way with the customer. if they aren't sure, then i measure them. or if they ask me to, i measure them. she told me what size she had been wearing and here comes AL. she told me that there was NO WAY that the customer was wearing that size and that i should measure her. i asked AL to help only because i'm new to measuring. she told me what sizes to try and then i was off. i spent about 30 minutes with the customer and it ended up being a SUPER SALE (over $400). i was SO very excited because it was my first one. i couldn't wait for the store manager to get to the store so i could tell her. (btw, not only did i have a super sale today, but i exceeded my goal by over $300 and made the store over $1,000).
so in comes my manager and i tell her and she high-fives me! totally awesome, right? well here comes AL--she said to me and the manager that i wouldn't have had a super sale if she hadn't measured the customer. so now i'm sitting at home wondering wtf? did she have to steal my thunder with her lies? i would have gotten the customer in the right size by trial and error, which is ACTUALLY what ended up happening. the size AL measured wasn't working so we went up a size in some bras and down a size in others (different bras--different sizes sometimes). measuring is just a guideline--a starting point. i could have easily used the size the customer gave me as a guideline/starting point.
so i'm not only thinking wtf? but wondering if i'll get in trouble for not ringing up the sale as a team sale and sharing the bonus. all AL did was measure the customer and run her mouth about all sorts of bullshit (i wasn't listening). i spent the time in the dressing room with the customer and searched all over for bras for her, and helped her pick out panties, and rang her up (and ordered her a bra because we didn't have one she wanted in her size). am i wrong to not want to share the credit? why can't i just enjoy the euphoria of the super sale and AL mind her business?
