writing buddies

i've had two writing dates in the last week.  i had SO much fun!

on tuesday i met with my friend eve.  we had breakfast and talked.  then we did some writing.  it was nice to go some place and have writing be my purpose.  it seemed that we did a little more talking than writing, but i still got some work done of my story.  we're going to try to meet once a week during the summer months to do this.

on friday nite i met an old friend, michelle, at a trendy cafe in montrose (thanks shauna for the suggestion). i ordered a BIG piece of cheese cake and we settled in to work.  we traded pieces and commented on each other's work.  we gave feedback and suggestions.  we didn't do any actual new writing, but it was very productive.  i wish michelle lived in town so we could get together more often.

i think that writing is not always a solitary activity.  that it helps to get together with someone else to bounce ideas off of or just to force yourself to write.  i probably wouldn't have done any writing on tuesday if i had just stayed home by myself.  i may make a good dent in my collection if i write at least once a week this summer.  it would be better if i wrote more than once a week, but it's a start!
