looking for a job

if you ask me how the job search is going i would tell you that it sucks!  apparently there are lots of jobs out there.  i'm qualified for them.  i have the skills and knowledge.  i know that i could do them successfully.  the problem?  most of these places (texas children's hospital for example) want specific experience in that area.  i'm going outside of what i have done in the past.  i don't want to teach kids anymore (btw--it's not the children, it's all the political bullshit).  it appears though that i'm only qualified to teach kids because that is the only experience i have.  forget the fact that as a teacher i utilized many different computer programs (microsoft office and others) to enhance my teaching, organize student data, and to communicate with parents and other teachers.  forget the fact that as a teacher i had to do data entry.  forget the fact that as a teacher i had to maintain student permanent folders.  forget the fact that i type between 60-65 WPM.  who gives a damn if i have these skills?  since i did not gain/use them in an office environment, then i'm not qualified to do the job.  some of these jobs (administrative, receptionist type jobs) only require a high school diploma or GED.  i've got a freaking masters.  i know that may make me over qualified, but i can't even apply for jobs because i don't have experience in an office and that is required.  wtf?  how do you get experience in these places if people won't give you a chance?  if any of my readers (known or ghost readers) have any advice for me, please leave a comment.  i'm going crazy over here!
