why oh why?

ok, i've been on a soap box all week (sorry facebook). more shit hit the fan since my last political post. i'm not going to go into those details (too much), but i do have a BIG question.

what is it with men?

i'm not a man-hater. i just don't understand the things they do. i'm not talking about the little everyday things that make us crazy. i'm talking about major things that men do--usually men in power.

let me just be blunt--

issue #1: why do men feel that it is ok to rape a woman? i know rape is more about power than sex (at least from what i have read). what goes on in their minds that makes them feel that they have to take what they want? i just don't get it--how they justify it in their heads. what i think is even worse is that rape is still so prevalent on college campuses. it was one thing when it wasn't talked about as much. but it is everywhere now--TV, radio, internet, newspapers. these young boys should know better. not saying that old men shouldn't know better--they should. but wtf? their mother's should say something to them before turning them lose in the world. it's not like people don't discuss rape now-a-days.

issue #2: this ties into rape, but why is it so many men (and some women) feel that is ok to touch a young child sexually. when i read the news online everyday (usually local, but some national) i see at least one article about a child who has been molested. i saw one today or yesterday about a 4 year old. i have heard stories of children much younger being sexually abused. what is wrong with these people? what is going on in their head?s is it also control? what is sexually appealing about a young child? i don't get it. and yes, teenagers ARE children. they may not talk like it. they may not dress like it. they may not act like it. but they are indeed children. it is not ok to have sex with a teenager--esp. if it is your student (that's for a whole other blog). just want to know why people think this behavior is ok.

issue #3: after everything i have read the last two weeks, i am SO tired of men who think they should make decisions about things that affect MY body. yes folks this deals with abortion on some level, but it also deals with contraception and other female related issues. i know there are a ton of radical, pro-life women who are against a woman's right to choose, but all the bills introduced lately have come from MEN (most of them old). a man has no idea what it feels like to be pregnant, give birth, etc. why should a man make decisions for me concerning these issues. why are these men being so controlling? why is it any of their business what i do with my body? it is mine to care for or destroy...

not sure if i've made a lot of sense--i have a headache, and these issues are pissing me off, making it hard to think clearly. but if you know why men do/think the way they do about these things, please clue me in. i really want to make sense of what is going on in this country...
