a new job!

while i'm making changes, i may as well change jobs... i know what you're thinking--i just go this job. the problem is, i've been teaching for 11 years--that's a LONG time (at least to me--feels like twice that). i'm just tired of it. tired of the kids who don't want to learn (or behave), tired of the politics, tired of working so hard for so little, tired of testing... do i need to go on? so i'm looking at my options. the part that sucks is that i'm only qualified to teach--meaning that my experience is all in teaching and no where else.

i've applied to two jobs at HCC (non-teaching ones), four jobs at U of H (non-teaching ones), two jobs at Rice (non-teaching ones), and four jobs at San Jac (3 teaching, and 1 non-teaching). I'm hoping to stay somewhat in the field of education, but do something else. i would love to work in higher education and hope that i can get in some how. most of the jobs want experience doing whatever the job is--i don't have that and it hurts me. but, i'm smart, educated, and a quick learner. anyone would be lucky to have me, right?

on another note---i'm trying to make a difficult decision. should i continue with this masters program? i really want my MFA in creative writing, but the traumas of last summer still hang over me. i have a hard time and then i get behind. take last november and this end february/beginning of march. i was paralyzed mentally, and got nothing done. now i'm seriously behind, and don't even know if i should continue. it's hard with my mind always overworking itself and my emotions getting the better of me. i need to make a decision soon...
