i'm not even sure where to begin. i'm seeing red right now. i have not been this mad in a long time.
it just so happens that my bank has a policy that says (and i'm paraphrasing) you can't remove someone from your account without that person's permission (both people have to come in together to sign), but if you want to close an account, you don't need the permission of the other person.
i found out about this policy the hard way (like most things in life).
wayne was still on my accounts from when we were married. i didn't take him off when we separated in 2004 because at the time i had a bunch of automatic withdraws and some direct deposits that would have been messed up because i was told that i would have to close my accounts and open new ones to remove him. he's not listed on my checks. he does not have an atm card. he had no access to my money (the little bit that i have). i even forgot that he was even on the account.
well, i forgot until i was reminded this morning.
i logged onto my mobile app. it showed me having $0.00 in my checking and that my savings account was closed. this was odd. i should have had $4.33 in checking and $1.00 in savings. i called the bank to inquire. they said that yesterday, arthur moore withdrew money. wtf? he has no way to withdraw MY money.
so i called him. he said that he didn't know he was still on my accounts. he said that he thought i took care of it a long time ago (damn--wish i had). i explained why he was still on there (see above). he said all he did was walk into the bank, give his social security number, and ask them to close all his accounts. he said he didn't know those were my accounts, but he was handed $5.33. he had the nerve to ask me if i wanted my $5.00 back. he also told me he didn't want to be associated with me because him and his wife were opening a joint account at the same bank where i bank and he didn't want to get charged fees for things i screwed up on (BTW--this is bullshit. just because the name is there doesn't mean shit. you have to specifically ask the bank to link accounts and withdraw money if you go below your minimum amount in your account).
so i spent my lunch at the bank (not eating, relaxing, and writing like i planned). long story short--i had to open a new account. i got screwed with this too. my old account, which has been around for a very long time, did not have any fees attached to it if you dropped below some minimum amount. now there is a $12 fee if i drop below $5,000 (i wish i had $5,000).
on my way home i stopped at the branch near my house. i asked to speak to a manager. i went through this whole story again and ask how it was that it takes two people to remove a person, but only one person to close an account. i did not get a good answer. it has to do with not being fair to the person who are removing if you remove them without their knowledge. i said it is not fair to me to have MY account closed without ME knowing.
i then found out that he called the bank on october 22nd and inquired about having his name removed. they told him to go into the branch. that is when he went in and closed MY accounts. all he had to do was tell me he wanted to be removed, and i would have gone to the bank with him and done whatever paperwork had to be done. i don't want him on there. did he do that? NO. he fucked me over.
now it is on.
don't mess with me!
that's all i have to say...
