off to a bad start

well right now i'm supposed to be in Connecticut. instead i am sitting on my bed eating shredded mini wheats and typing this blog. why aren't i in connecticut? i had dental surgery last week and after the surgery the dentist told me that he didn't want me going that far from home. major bummer! not only am i missing out on some great workshops and lectures, but i'm am now unable to meet with my mentors face-to-face to plan my classes for the semester. not only that, i'm required to attend 4 residencies as part of my degree. what happens if i miss one? well i haven't found that out yet. i am still waiting to hear. i'm guessing it will prolong graduation by a semester. i could be wrong, but that's my guess. speaking of semesters, my first one was a rocky one. i went through a major dark period about 1/2 through and wasn't as successful as i would have liked. i got a C in one class--i'm very disappointed in myself. i should of done better. shouldn't have let the summer get to me, but i did. i'm doing much better now and feel more focused. should do better this spring semester. at least i hope i do.

as far as the dental surgery goes--for those that are wondering--i had some major reonstructive work done to rebuild some bone that i had lost. it's going to be a process--a few months for the bone to regrow and strengthen and then another surgery for some implants. for those of you who know me, i hate dentists and can't believe i'm putting myself through all this, but i hear it'll be worth it in the end. we shall see...
