it was a joke!

so i took off work and went to the job fair yesterday. i woke up nervous with anticipation. i was looking foward to talking to as many principals as i could. really work at selling myself.

well, none of that happened. i showed up at 2PM to a long line and rain. i had straightened my hair so i looked a mess by the time i got in to get my name tag. i found the section of the field house (yes it was at barnett field house) that housed the schools for the west side of the district. there wasn't a school i wanted to talk to yet--it was just secondary schools. i was hoping to talk to bellarie high school, but they weren't there. after a while of sitting there i found out that only 2 elementary schools had RSVP'd for the west region. TWO! one of them was an elementary school that i would be willing to talk to. after waiting for another half hour or so, we come to find out that the school is only looking for one teacher--a bilingual math teacher for 3rd grade. well i'm not bilingual so i left.

there were like NO schools there. alll these applicants showed up looking for a job an no principals bothered to RSVP or show. it was a joke!

what know? well after feeling sorry for myself i faxed my resume to 3 schools this morning and i'm going to visit 3 schools tomorrow morning. i also found out about a high school opening at a jewish private school and i applied for that. hopefully something will happen in the month of june--if not--well, let's not go there...
