i received a rejection letter from the University of Southern Maine yesterday. they were my 2nd choice for MFA programs. it was a nice form letter saying that although i was not admitted into their graduate program, they do offer a summer writing institute that i could sign up for... (yeah right!)
i know it's my 2nd choice and not my first. i know i still have two more schools to hear from. i know that it's not the end of the world. it still sucks that i was rejected! i wanted to get into more than one school and have a choice. now my choices are knocked out by one and if i don't get my top choice then i'll have to settle for my 3rd.
on a good note--i do have a phone interview with my top choice on Monday morning. i don't think they would want to interview me if i hadn't impressed them with my written application, so that's a plus!
